Celebrate Dad this Father’s Day 2016

Celebrate Dad with His Own Dad Digest!!

tell dad how much you love him with his very own dad digest.

I am a big fan of letting the little ones get involved in showing their love for Dad as early as possible.  I always say parenting can be a thankless job, and everyone loves to be appreciated.  So let your babies get in on the action.  Not only is it something that Dad will always remember.  It is an opportunity to teach them not to take their loved ones for granted.  In the wake of the terrible Orlando tragedy, I am all about spreading love wherever and whenever I can.  So put on your party hats and lets Celebrate The Big Guy In Your Life.

do you crave organization like some people crave sweets? me too…

I remember distinctly saying that I was not going to get caught up into the “Planner Craze”, but somehow I find myself swept up in it.  I genuinely think it’s just another way for my Mild OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) to manifest itself.  And, I guess that’s ok.  Keeping this ship smooth sailing is just that much easier when I write everything down.  Hey, sue me, I am going to be 40 in a couple of weeks.  I need all the prompting and reminders that I can get.  Can you tell that I am not really embracing the Road to 40?  But, that is definitely for another post.

Setting up my Planner Each Week is therapeutic for me, it falls under the category of Adult Coloring.  It’s something about playing with the layouts each week and figuring out what works best.  So far no week has been identical to the last.  But, I think I have come up with my staples.  Things that I know I need to track each week.  For home that would be my chores, kid/family stuff, shopping, menu planning, what I am eating, drinking and tracking my medicine/vitamins.  For the Business/Blog that would be social media, content planning, blogging, and the Etsy Store.  I try to end my day by going over what needs to be done the next day.  It kind of gives me a head start, and I am all for that.

I have fallen in love with a few Etsy Stores that offer all kinds of options for making your planner pages pop.  And, I have found way too many Free Printables all over Pinterest.  So just for fun, I decided to try my hand at my making my own Printable Planner Stickers.  I went with ones that I thought pretty much everyone could use.

Planning Your Own Way

Planning Your Own Way

Hi, I’m Sheree and I am a planner/list addict.  As if you didn’t already know that.  I have owned almost ever planner known to man.  The Franklin Covey, The Day Planner, Student Planners, Mead Planners, Goal Planners. Financial/Budget Planners, you name it, I’ve had it.  In the past, planners have strictly been for organizing and scheduling your day.  There was no glitzy, preppy, girly element to it.  But, let me tell you, things have changed.  The planner craze has taken over and with it has come the need to make it look good and feel good(embellishments).  For some, the planner has replaced the Family Control Center, as a way to plan out their lives in one portable location.  I personally have a planner that I use for my Household/Mommy/Wife Life and another one I use for this blog and my Etsy business.  But, I am the person that needs to compartmentalize everything, each thing must be in its individual box.

This year I purchased my very first Erin Condren Life Planner with the Horizontal Weekly Layout.  I had a pretty lengthy list of all the planners that I was interested in and after much deliberation I chose this one for my business needs.  Let me tell you about it.  Well, this was not the determining factor but… I was able to have it personalized.  So that was a major plus for me.    I need things to be horizontal. My planning is more like writing or journaling.  If you are into Bullet Journaling then the vertical one is probably a better option for you.  Included in the package with my planner was Pandora’s Box.  It came with all kinds of stickers and dots, Coils, books, etc.  And, at that point, I knew I was in trouble.  It was the equivalent of Apple products. For example, if you got the iPod, at some point you probably got the iPhone, and then the iPad, and eventually the iMac.   You probably have the Apple TV and you could probably think of a million other Apple products you would love to have.  I went straight to the Erin Condren site and I was in seventh heaven.  From there, I went to Pinterest and Searched Planner Stickers and then I was on to Instagram for more ideas/inspiration.

Thankfully, I was able to apply the brakes here. Being a former Scrapbooker, I was able to see the trap before I fell into it.  While I certainly aspire to have my Planner Pages look like some of the ones shown above.  I knew that this would be a job all to itself.  And, trust me when I say that I do not need ANOTHER JOB.  Now, I won’t lie to you and say that I didn’t  order any stickers because, I did but I tried to keep it simple.  If you are up to the challenge – Check out the Links to the  Instagram Pages in the links above. I decided to compromise with myself and put together a system that I could manage without feeling overwhelmed.

  1.   Key/Legend/Color Coding- I decided that this would be easiest way for me to keep up with my tasks by creating a Key and Color Coding. I split my Household Planner up  into these categories:  Household – Kids/School/Family – Meal/Diet/Fitness – Financial/Diet -Me/Other.  I split my Business Planner up into these categories: Blog – Social Media – Etsy – Ideas – Me/Other.  Take some time  and figure out what categories work for you before setting up your system.
  2.   Stickers –  If you are concerned with the looks/aesthetic of your planner than you will most likely get sucked in here.  For me, I need maximum writing space.  But, I found the smaller stickers were useful when tracking things like vitamins, water intake, exercise, and appointments.
  3. Tabs/Arrows – I find these helpful as ways to draw attention to certain areas or upcoming projects.  And, with all the color  and style options they can look cute too.

We are almost through February and I think I have found a system that works for  me.  I am sure I will make more tweaks as the weeks go on but for now, this seems to be working.  What is your favorite planner?  And, how do you keep it organized?

“a goal without a plan is just a wish.”

Trend Alert: Defining Your Living Space with Posters

Trending Alert Decorating with Posters

Gone are the days when posters were only used to decorate the walls of adolescent bedrooms, home theaters and man caves.  Posters have emerged as a way to tell a story, add bold color, and display your style and personality in your living space.  Reproductions, Travel Posters and Vintage Poster Art are quickly becoming a very popular design trend.  The reason why….the possibilities are endless.

Posters can be displayed almost anywhere.  Here are some of my favorite placements found around the web.

I think one of the reasons why posters are becoming such a popular option, is that they are very cost effective.  Often the same original art work can be hard on your pockets.  In fact, during this past Holiday Season, our poster section generated the most sales in our Etsy Store.  Though, I tend to be partial to seeing posters displayed in frames, simply because I feel that it gives it a “artsy” feel. They can be hung, taped, displayed in a gallery like format or even simply made to lean up against the wall. Regardless of how you choose to incorporate them into your home, they will serve their purpose.  Do you have any posters displayed in your home?  What was the reason that you went with a poster, as opposed to another form of art?

Our 2015 Christmas Home Tour

Christmas Home Tour 2015 | Stage Presents | DIY Ideas and Christmas Decor

It’s that time again.  Can you believe that this is our Third Christmas Home Tour?  The years are flying by so quickly and the kids are getting bigger and bigger, and by default, I am not getting any younger either.  But, the one thing that remains the same is my Love for this Time of The Year. It’s not Christmas unless you are throwing a little red and green around.  And, as far as the little ones are concerned the Kid’s Tree and everything surrounding it should be flocked in traditional hues.  And, I am ok with that.  Because as much as I literally live for the Real Tree in my formal living room, my heart strings are permanently attached to the Kid’s Tree.  It is literally stock full of memories of Christmas past.  The hallway leading into the Family Room and the Kid’s Tree and the Mantel are always very conventional.

This year I introduced gold as our new accent color for the Formal  Living and Dining Room, while holding on to most of the color scheme from last year.  Since, I decorated for Fall this year, when Christmas time came my creative brain was pretty fried.  I had no idea in what direction I wanted to go this year.  However, I really loved how these two rooms turned out this year.  We purchased the large Gold bowl on the table from Home Goods and the pears and apples we got from their as well.  The purple napkins we scored last year from Bed Bath and Beyond and used them again this year.  We also scored the table mats from Home Goods and believe it or not the chargers came from the Dollar Store.  As you can see, the Gold literally carries through all the way to this years tree.
