Free Back to School Binder Covers

In the South, most kids have started heading back to school.  Today was my girls very first day. Thankfully, we got a jump start on Back to School Shopping this year and we  were able to totally avoid being in the stores when they turned into a mad house.

As has been our tradition for the past couple of years, I made new Binder Covers for my girls for the 2018-2019 school year.  I get way too much joy out of personalizing their things.   And, if you are anything like me and love to add splashes of pizzazz here and there, feel free to grab this year’s freebies and make them your own.  If you do so and you are particularly proud of your creation.  Be sure to snap a pic and post it to Instagram, using the hashtag #spbbtsbinders.  I am excited to see what you all come up with.

This is our 3rd year sharing these Back to School Binder Covers, so if you didn’t find something that you like in this year’s bundle.  Be sure to check out the ones from 2017-2018 and or  the ones from 2016-2017.

GRAB YOUR FREE 2017 BACK TO SCHOOL BINDER COVERS2017 Back to School Binder Covers

The 2017 – 2017 School Year has officially begun here in Atlanta!!  As a child, I always loved the back to school season, the smell of new clothes and new school supplies!!  I am sure that shocks no one, since I am still all about new clothes, new pens, notebooks, etc. etc.  Back in my day… we used to actually carry physical books and bought all different kinds of cool book covers and decorated them to our liking.  But, these days pretty much all of the books are available online.  So, my daughter and I simply dress up her three ring binders.  We love doing this every year, it’s kind of our thing.

This is the third year that we have shared our Binder Covers here on the blog.  To grab these simply right click on the links below.

Back to School Prep

Here in Atlanta, we have just a few week’s left until the kids head back to school, which brings me a little sadness and a lot of joy!! It also means that it is time to pull out my infamous lists and get ready.  As with anything else Back to School Prep is a process.  Here are  my FAIL PROOF STEPS.

PURGE –

If your kids are anything like mine, they love to hold on to things.  So step one for us is ALWAYS THE PURGE.  This part generally just applies to clothing and where clothes are concerned, a fashion show is in order.  I have the kids pull out all their things and try them on to see what fits and what needs to be sent to Goodwill.  For the most part,  all the short sleeve and warmer weather clothes are generally getting too small but a lot of the fall things can still fit. We normally purchase school clothes twice a year, when school starts and then again before Christmas to take us through the colder months.  You can also use this time to get rid of half used notebooks, old binders, pens and pencils that have seen better days, and ultimately anything that you really don’t need anymore.

MAKE A LIST –

By now, most schools should have provided you with a general list of what your little ones will need for this school year.  Once, you have gotten the Supply List set aside, it’s time to tackle School Clothes. Only you will know just how much your child will need to make it through the year, but as a rule, I always try to do no less than 8 pairs of pants  and 10-12 tops.  My girls haven’t really been interested in dresses or skirts up until now, but this year my middle “schooler” has informed me that she wants to change up her style a little so I will be allotting some money for that, as well as some accessories.  Can I just say that she is growing up .. way too fast?  Speaking of Accessories, I find that it is so easy to forget to add these to the list, but undoubtedly you will need them.  I mean you always need new socks and new under things to start out a new year.. or just always.. am I right?

SHOP –

This year in Georgia, we are not having a Tax Free Weekend, as we have grown accustomed to before the new school year starts.  And, although I am one of the people that found this disappointing, life goes on. Whether you are on a strict budget or not, there is never a good excuse to pass up a good sale.  If you start early enough, you can get pretty much all your School Supplies at severely discounted rates.  Now, keep in mind you may have to hit up a few stores to pull it off.  But, trust me it is worth it.  We always like to buy a little more than is needed to take us through the School Year, and maybe even into the next.   Where clothing is concerned, the hunt maybe a little more intense depending on how picky your little dresser is.  But, generally I have found back to school shopping to be the perfect time to stock up on jeans and tees for great prices.

MENTAL PREP –

My oldest daughter is the most sensitive of my brood.  Transitions tend to be more traumatic for her, even though the older she gets the easier it gets.  But, at my house mental prep starts with readjusting bed times.  Creating new schedules for the upcoming year, discussing expectations and pre-planning as much as we can for the first week.  We also start pulling out our books, going over some of what we learned last year as a refresher and making sure any Summer Projects have been completed.  Don’t be deceived, even though Mommy’s are often the most excited of the bunch, they also need to get their minds right. Especially if you have been at home with the kids all summer , you too have to get used to early drop offs and fitting all that you have to do within that tight time frame, before pick ups occur.  I learned this the hard way, because every year I get so caught up in the joy of my alone time, that I take weeks to get back on track.  This was the first summer that I managed get a lot done, simply because I prepared for what was to come.

What is your process for getting your little one’s ready for the start of a new year?  I would love to hear all about it.  Be sure to share your tips in the comment section below.

Back to School Binder Cover Blog

As always, summers around here don’t seem to last.  There are literally just 16 days left until the start of school here in Atlanta.  So, I am in full Back to School Planning Mode, much to the chagrin of my little ones who are still very much in “lounge mode”. Most of our School Supplies have been purchased, and the only major thing we still have to do is clothes shopping.  I don’t know how it is at your house, but for me, my Middle School-er is the hardest shop for.  She after all, has strong opinions on her look and fashion in general.  Who knew??  I thought I had a few more years, lol.

Last year, I made a Binder Cover for her and somehow I ended up having to make one for most of the girls in her class.  We had to have the whole discussion about volunteering Mommy’s services.  But, they were such a big hit, that I added a few to the blog right before School started last year and they, to this day are one of most downloaded and shared items.

And, you know I am all about a freebie.  So this year, I gave you a few more options.  Five Funky & Fancy Binder Covers for you to choose from and Personalize for your little ones.  To Download – Right Click on the Picture – Save.  You can choose to hand write their names and grades or if you choose to edit it via the computer.  You will be able to open this document in pretty much any program, since I made it a JPEG image.  If you like these and decide to download and use please share your pics on Instagram with the hashtag #spbacktoschool.

My Product Review of the Keurig 2.0 Brewing System

Keurig 2.0 K350 Brewing System Product ReviewAlmost as important as all the supplies that I had to purchase for back to school, is the fuel I need to start my day.  Now that the girls are a little bit older, I managed to get to sleep in several mornings during the summer.  My body quickly adjusted to the down time.  Getting back on track and used to getting up by 7am has been, dare I say challenging.  But, with no other choice I drag myself from the bed every morning. And, run straight to the Coffee.

[Enter the Keurig 2.0.]  Over the summer our house got hit by lightning and it fried our Keurig. Coffee is a HUGE part of my day.  So you can imagine my dismay when I went to brew my coffee and realized that is was NO BUENO.  Ugh!!  My warranty was up, and I was hesitant to call Keurig.  But, I thought maybe they could walk me through troubleshooting and or help me to reset it. The customer service rep was very pleasant and quickly pulled up my info and confirmed that my warranty had indeed expired.  BUT….. She was willing to honor it anyway.  (You can imagine me doing the Tootsie Roll, Cabbage Patch or whatever old.. dance you can think of here.)  I expected her to say send it back and they would repair it or replace my existing model.  NOPE… Boy, was I wrong.  Instead she told me that they would be upgrading me to the Keurig 2.0 K350 Brewing System.  I was super excited.  And, got off the phone pleased.

But, then I remembered that I had actually looked into this model and that there had been a lot of chatter about it.  I wont say that the chatter deterred me from purchasing it, as it was on My Later Wish List.  But, it did give me pause.  However, I certainly wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth.  My box came in the mail about three days later.(Fast Turn Around) The Keurig 2.0 comes with a Keurig Carafe, 6 K-Cup Packs, 6 Carafe Packs and a Water Filer Handle and Cartridge.

So, here’s my review:  I actually have nothing bad to say about this model. It’s touch screen.  It holds more water than the previous model.  It can make a cup of a whole carafe.  I never had use for the whole pot, but I imagine if I ever have overnight guests this would come in handy.  Most people thought that they would not be able to use other brands of coffee since it had to have the official Keurig logo.  Fact is that most brands carry the Keurig logo. I drink Foldger’s Black Silk.  I haven’t found the K-Cups to be anymore expensive.  They have an additional 8 K-cups in the package, so naturally it cost more but it balances out.   You have more choices in how you want your coffee to brew, Strength, Size of Cups (4oz-10oz), or Carafe.  You also have more choices as far as Set Up.  You can choose your language, whether or not you want to keep it in Energy Saving Mode, your altitude, and even set a Water Filter Reminder.

If you are considering upgrading this Model gets the Stage Presents Stamp of Approval.  For more information on this model, check it out here.  Is Coffee an important part of your day too?  Check out this My Blood Type is Coffee Print – Available for Instant Download in Our Etsy Store.

Conquering Day One – First Day of School 2015-2016

Conquering Day One - First Day of School - How to Talk to Your Kids About School - stage-presents.com

You would think that as a VETERAN PARENT, (meaning I have a 19 year old son), that the First Day of School wouldn’t be so daunting for me.  But, every year I get anxiety and don’t get much sleep for the days leading up to it.  This year was probably a little worst than the past years, because it was my baby’s First Day of Kindergarten.   I kept watching her all morning to see signs of fear, but it wasn’t until we were already in the classroom that she showed her hand.  I could see the tears right on the brink, and as I put my hand on her little chest in an attempt to calm her, I could feel her heart beating soo fast.   For a moment, I wanted to grab her hand and run down the length of the hallway, throw her in the car and take her home with me, where I knew she would be safe.  But, I steadied myself and diverted my eyes, so as not to burst into tears myself.  Lucky for me, hubby took the day off to go with, and he was his usual Cool as a Cucumber self.  After I dropped her off,  I walked my oldest daughter to her fifth grade class with her supplies.  Shes an old pro, so she was fine.  Then, I immediately doubled back to check on baby girl, and even though she was a bit withdrawn and quiet, she was ok.  The hours seemed to creep by today.  I kept looking at my phone and my watch, even though I am not sure why.  She made it through the day, and rode the bus home with her sister, as if she had been doing this all her life.   So, I suppose all is well that ends well.  There’s something about your last baby.  It makes the firsts also the lasts, and, I suppose that can be a little somber.  Now, that we have gotten past that part, I pray that the girls both have an amazing year, and wish the same for you and your little people.  Let’s Get It!!

First Day of School Instagram Printables

Capture the Memories with this Free Instagram Back to School Printable

In our house, the first day of school is a big deal.  So each year I try to come up with fun ways to commemorate the end of summer and kick off the school year.  As the kids get older, it gets harder to come up with new and innovative things we can do together and enjoy.   But lucky for me, my girls share in my love of Scrap booking and Creating Photo Books.   My kids enjoy scrolling through my Instagram Feed, but they are too young to have a page of their own.  So, I came up with this fun Instagram Printable that I knew they would love.  It was something that they could “make their own”  by adding their own words and choosing a picture and then we could add it to our Yearly Family Photo Book.  You can read more about this here.

Since we enjoyed it so much, I thought I would share Our Free Editable Instagram First Day of School Printable with all you Scrap booking and Shutterbug Moms, or anyone who just wants a keepsake to remember this Special Day.  And, the best part is that you don’t need any fancy Photo Editing Software, you can edit it in Microsoft Word.  But, feel free to edit it in ANY Software you choose.
