First Day of School Instagram Printables

Capture the Memories with this Free Instagram Back to School Printable

In our house, the first day of school is a big deal.  So each year I try to come up with fun ways to commemorate the end of summer and kick off the school year.  As the kids get older, it gets harder to come up with new and innovative things we can do together and enjoy.   But lucky for me, my girls share in my love of Scrap booking and Creating Photo Books.   My kids enjoy scrolling through my Instagram Feed, but they are too young to have a page of their own.  So, I came up with this fun Instagram Printable that I knew they would love.  It was something that they could “make their own”  by adding their own words and choosing a picture and then we could add it to our Yearly Family Photo Book.  You can read more about this here.

Since we enjoyed it so much, I thought I would share Our Free Editable Instagram First Day of School Printable with all you Scrap booking and Shutterbug Moms, or anyone who just wants a keepsake to remember this Special Day.  And, the best part is that you don’t need any fancy Photo Editing Software, you can edit it in Microsoft Word.  But, feel free to edit it in ANY Software you choose.

There are always a host of emotions that come with the first day of school, some good, some not so good. I think I probably think about it a lot more than the kids do.  They are just excited to wear their new clothes and see their friends.  Here’s to a GREAT 2015-2016 School Year.

Creating A Space You Love

Creating A Space You Love - www.stage-presents.com

Are you anything like me?  Do you spend hours pouring over the pages of Home Decor Magazines looking for ideas to make your house a home?  One of the very first magazine subscriptions that I purchased was Real Simple.   I received that magazine for years, before I moved  into a home of my own.  I loved to see how people created spaces that reflected their personalities but that were still livable and inviting.  Once I had a family of my very own, it was very important to me that the home we live in was both comfortable and staged.  To that end, I feel like our home is always a work in progress.

Without the funds to just walk into Haverty’s and have their stylist design rooms for us, we literally have taken our time and piece by piece have watched our vision come together.  I am always on the hunt for something that looks like this, at that price.  Treasure hunting on a budget, I guess. Some mornings I walk down the stairs and I’m tickled pink at just how things are working out. Some mornings, I wish I could scrap the whole thing and start over.  But, it has definitely become a passion project for me.  Friends and Family that pop by are always telling us how they love the way we decorate our home, and inquire as to where we got this piece or that piece.  And, I have to laugh because I know how many hidden treasures we have stashed in closets that we thought were the way to go and then turned out they weren’t.  I think we could probably style a small apartment with some of the things we have stored away.

I was blessed to find a hubby who seems to love this kind of thing as much as I do, or maybe he is just humoring his high brow wife.  (I hope that isn’t the case.)  But, I dare say that he has come home with just as many finds as me, if not more.  We don’t always see each others visions, but we agree that we both have to love it, for it to find a permanent place in our home.

Apparently, even the Pro’s take this approach when designing their own homes or homes for their clients. Check out this post by three of my favorite blogs Life on Virginia Street Effortless Style and The Blissful Bee titled From the Magazine to the Pages of Your Home.

Looking for More Inspiration that literally springs from the pages of a Magazine?  Elements of Style shows us how she pulled inspiration from House Beautiful to come up with A Boathouse of One’s Own.

Lastly, Destiny from Just Destiny Mag, lays down the law on how she Creates a Meaningful Home in this awesome blog featured on Jenna Burger’s Blog.

It’s definitely easy to get overwhelmed with the process, as with anything else but the rules for us are pretty simple, fill your home with things that you love and things that make you happy.

The Liberty Bell     Home of the Brave     Happy Independence Day

ORIGINS OF THE FOURTH OF JULY SOURCE: HISTORY.COM

The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence.

Fourth of July Becomes a National Holiday

The tradition of patriotic celebration became even more widespread after the War of 1812, in which the United States again faced Great Britain. In 1870, the U.S. Congress made July 4th a federal holiday; in 1941, the provision was expanded to grant a paid holiday to all federal employees.

Over the years, the political importance of the holiday would decline, but Independence Day remained an important national holiday and a symbol of patriotism.

Falling in mid-summer, the Fourth of July has since the late 19th century become a major focus of leisure activities and a common occasion for family get-togethers, often involving fireworks and outdoor barbecues. The most common symbol of the holiday is the American flag, and a common musical accompaniment is “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the national anthem of the United

Update on my Summer Goals

Summer Goals UpdateAs expected keeping up with my blogging while the kids are at home can prove to be challenging.  But, so far I have managed to maintain.  So, I thought I would drop in to let you know how I am doing with my Summer Goals that I wrote about here.

1.  Reading for Fun.  Well, I actually checked out two physical books from the Library.  It has been forever since I read a physical book.  I figured that the real book would keep me from being distracted by all the buzzing, and beeping going on while reading on the iPad.  That hasn’t really gone too well.  I have already had to renew the books once, and I am literally on page 89 of the first book.  Hmmm…. I am honestly struggling with just giving up on that one and moving on to the other book.  Blah!! Once I get through these two I am going o start on this Reading List.  Maybe it will be a little easier.

2.  Handwritten Cards & Letters.  I still have not done this one yet.  But… I did order Personalized Photo Father’s Day Cards for the girls to give to Hubby, does that count?  Interested in doing this too, check out the Card Store.

3.  Connect with Family & Friends.  I did good on this one.  One of my oldest friends and her Mom came into town, and I was able to go and hang out with them for a couple of hours, without the kids.  That is major!!

4.  Romantic and Mushy TV – I watched the Fault in Our Stars which I loved.  Still working my way down the list…  Anyone have any suggestions for me?

5.  Trying new Recipes with the Kids – Check Us Out Making Memories in the Kitchen.

6.  DIY Projects – During the winter I bought an old Lazy Suzan, it was wood adjacent, lol, well I thought it was real wood when I bought it.  Once I started sanding it, I realized that wasn’t the case.  But, after applying several coats of paint, it almost looks usable.  I plan to put it on my kitchen table, to hold napkins, etc. etc. (Pics to Follows)

7.  In preparation for the Fairs we plan to attend in the Fall, we have been stocking our Etsy Store with Printables.  Right now they are digital, but we plan to offer the Physical Prints when selling in person, and hope to add this to the Etsy Store as well.  I am still hunting for a good printer in the Metro Atlanta Area.

Even though it really feels like it has been a while.  We are really only in the second week of Summer Break.  What are your Summer Goals for this year, consider leaving it in the comment section below?

Teacher Appreciation Blog

As the parent of a child with Special Needs letting her go out into “the world” aka Elementary School was no easy task.  Under the protective umbrella of Day Care, I grew to expect a certain level of care that I was not sure if I was going to receive in Elementary School.  I was beyond nervous and apprehensive while trying to appear confident and excited about the transition.  My oldest is 18 years old, so I had an opportunity the deal with all kinds of teachers.  So, I felt like I knew what to expect.

But, nothing could have prepared me for the team that I would encounter at her school.  I can only say that I was blessed.  Right out the gate her Speech Therapist fell in love with her.  I got the immediate feeling that she would care for her like her very own and she did.  We have had 5 years of amazing teachers, and specialist.  Each going the extra mile to make sure that our girl got the care she needed in order to successful.  That is no small feat, trust me.  When she gets out the car in the morning, I am truly comfortable and at ease.

For this reason, Teacher Appreciation Week is extremely important to me.  After all who else spends as much time with your little ones as you do.  These ladies and gentlemen are the next line of defense and are instrumental in helping to mold their young minds.  So every year, I try to put a little thought into giving them something that shows just how much we appreciate their efforts.

This year I wanted something both cute and quick.  So, I decided to go personalized.  We ordered these Super Cute Laura Kelly Personalized Note Pads from Expressionery and coupled them with our Printable Teacher Gift Tags and some Ribbon.  And, just like that we had a Gift Any Teacher would appreciate.

Fun Friday – The Spring 2015 Mini Home Tour

springminiThis year I managed to get the house ready for Spring/Easter with a week to spare.  I am always happy when I see a plan come together.   Our Wreath from last year couldn’t be revived for another year, so I went with a simple Forsythia Wreath.  I enjoy seeing Yellow on the front door for this time of year.

I switched out the Framed Printable in the Foyer for this great ‘Nest” free printable found over on On Sutton Place.image1 (24)

The Idea for the Centerpiece was found on Pinterest.  Luckily, I had all the components needed here at home.  The flowers were from my wedding almost 6 years ago.  I have NEVER gotten so much use of of one item, EVER.  They have been all over my house.  Money well Spent.  The lantern was part of my Christmas Centerpiece, and the Yellow flowers, were taken from Last Year’s Spring Wreath.

The Formal Living Room is where the rest of Last Year’s Wreath came to live, I took the whole thing apart and used it to bring a little life to this room, since the Color Palette in here was very muted.

image2 (15)This little bistro table is set up in our Kitchen.  It is most often just used as the Mail Table.  But, when we entertain, it is the Dessert Table.  I used another Great Framed Free Printable here that I found on Tater Tots and Jello.

The last thing we changed was the Guest/Kid’s Bathroom.  I should mention that the weekend after all this change, we had Family stay with us for the weekend.  So, this was just an excuse to upgrade this space with this Great Shower Curtain, and a Plush New Mat(not pictured here.)

In case you are wondering why I called this the Mini Spring House Tour, it is because I didn’t hit every room in the house.  But, I was very pleased with the outcome and we are ready and waiting for the Pool to Open in the subdivision and for the Warm Weather to Come Pouring In.  Next Week is Spring Break here, so I will be off enjoying my little ones.  Hope you guys have a great one!!
